Your thoughts and beliefs become your actions and behaviors, which ultimately determine what path your life takes. Where are you and where do you want to go? Intentionality is key for reaching any goal, so use this 7-day journaling challenge to set some intentions for yourself and for your money.
Day 1 – What does wealth mean to you?
What comes to mind when you hear the word wealth? How has this changed over time? Does the concept of wealth appeal to you?
Day 2 – Write about your feelings regarding the relationship between money and happiness.
Do you believe there is a relationship between money and happiness? To what extent? Can you think of instances where money has enabled or restricted happiness?
Day 3 – Think about your money story. What experiences, beliefs, or family influences have shaped your current mindset?
Think about the stories you tell yourself about money. How did those come to exist? Are they your own? Were they influenced or borrowed from someone else? What conversations did you hear about money growing up? How have people and situations affected your current perception of money? Are your money stories serving you?
Day 4 – Describe your emotional relationship with money. How does money make you feel? How do your emotions impact your financial decisions and behaviors?
For many of us, money is linked to emotion in some way or another, whether we are consciously aware of it or not. You might love it, hate it, or have a complicated relationship with it. What emotions come up for you when you think about money?
Day 5 – Explore the idea that money reflects your values and priorities. How do your spending habits align with your core values? How do they not align?
Value spending optimizes the value you get from spending money. Do you know what your core values are? Do you know how to convert money into value?
Day 6 – What would your lifestyle look like if you had your ideal amount of money?
Visualize your best life. What are your primary expenses? How do you feel? How do you spend your time, and with whom? What is present in your life, and what is absent from it?
Day 7 – Reflect on the concept of “spending with intention.” How could intentionality guide the way you spend money? What values would you choose to focus on? List 5 things you are always happy to spend on.
Do you know where your money goes each month or are you left wondering where it went? Think about purchases that have brought you joy or comfort. What were they, and what about them makes them valuable to you?
